Please take notice that I, David M. Livingston, County Mayor of Haywood County, Tennessee, hereby announces and gives notice to the members of the Haywood County Commission of the Call Meeting of the Haywood Commission on June 2th, 2022, at 6:00 P. M. at the Allen King Justice Complex located at 11 Dupree, Brownsville, Tennessee.
Take any and all necessary action as follows, to wit:
To take action on the resolution and /or motion to include in the Employee’s Handbook and observe the paid holiday day of Juneteenth for the calendar year 2022, and each and every year thereafter. Since the said holiday occurs on Sunday in this calendar year, it shall be observed on Monday, June 20, 2022. Should the said paid holiday fall on a Saturday hereafter, the said observance shall be of the day proceeding the June 19th day. Incorporated herein is the attached Resolution.

MOTION AND/ OR RESOLUTION TO INCLUDE IN THE EMPLOYEE’S HANDBOOK THE PAID HOLIDAY OF JUNETEENTH FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2022 AND EACH AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER. Since the holiday occurs on Sunday of this calendar year, it shall be observed on Monday, June 20, 2022.

RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK TO INCLUDE THE PAID HOLIDAY OF JUNETEENTH
WHEREAS, the Legislative body of Haywood County, Tennessee, has previously adopted an Employee’s Handbook which includes therein the paid holidays observed by Haywood County Government and it’s employees; and
WHEREAS, that said Employee’s Handbook excludes the Federal Holiday of Juneteenth, which is observed on June 19; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Haywood County Commission to amend the said Employee Handbook to include the said holiday as a paid holiday for the employees of Haywood County Government in the calendar year 2022, and each and every year hereafter; and
WHEREAS, the said holiday falls on a Sunday for the calendar year 2022 and hence shall be observed on the day following thereafter or June 20, 2022, and
WHEREAS, should the said holiday fall on a Sunday hereafter, the said Holiday will be observed on the following day; and
WHEREAS, should the said holiday fall on a Saturday thereafter, the said holiday shall be observed on the day proceeding the holiday.
Whereas, the said Haywood County Court and related operations shall be closed in observance of the same on the said date of observance as prescribed herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Employee Handbook previously adopted by the Haywood County Commission is hereby amended to include as a paid holiday for Haywood County Employees and closure of the courthouse the holiday of Juneteenth, which is traditionally observed on June 19. It is specifically directed that if the said holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday , the date of observance shall be as directed hereinabove
This Resolution shall take effect immediately after its passage, the public welfare requiring it.
