Billy Garrett, Jr. was appointed Sheriff of Haywood County at the County Commission meeting on November 13, 2017, to serve the unexpired term of the late Melvin Bond — until August 30, 2018. He was elected to serve a full term in the August 2, 2018 voting.
Garrett, a native Haywood Countian and 1975 graduate of Haywood High School, is a retired Memphis police officer. His career began as a jailer. He retired in MPD’s upper management.

Must be at Least 18 and US Citizen
At least High School Graduate – additional training and education desired
Must be able to pass Civil Service exam, medical and psychological exams
