Hatchie Fall Fest announces October 19 music line-up

Hatchie Fall Fest will celebrate 16 years when the festival opens Saturday, October 19, in downtown Brownsville, Tenn . Festivalgoers from all over the Mid-South will gather on the historic court square beginning at 10 a.m.. The family-friendly celebration includes kid’s games and activities, contests, live music, arts and crafts and lots of food.


CAPTION: Memphis Jelks and The GrindStax are among the featured performers during the 16th annual Hatchie Fall Fest Saturday, Oct. 19, in Brownsville, Tenn. Festivalgoers will enjoy free admission along with live music, arts and crafts, a variety of contests and their favorite fair foods.

“We are excited about this year’s music line-up,” says Sonia Outlaw-Clark, who has been a festival volunteer since its inception. “The mix of well-known local and regional musicians, as well as the eclectic mix of genres, is sure to be one of the best shows yet.”

This year’s musical entertainment begins at 10 a.m., and includes:
10 a.m.: Haywood High School Show Choir
10:30 a.m.: The Fifth Degree
11:30 a.m.: The Barnetts
1 p.m.: Mickey Utley Band
2 p.m.: Hutcheson Brothers
3 p.m.: Bonafide Bluesmen with Linzie Butler
4 p.m.: Memphis Jelks & The GrindStax
5 p.m.: Rev. Jessie & The Holy Smokes

Along with great music, festivalgoers will enjoy browsing arts and crafts booths and local merchant sidewalk sales. The Frozen T-shirt Contest is back, as are the Pet Show and Blessing, wrestling, and corn hole competitions. Also making a return is the baking contest and will feature entries for youth and adults in both the cake and pie categories.

A new Miss Hatchie will be crowned this Saturday, Oct. 13, 2 p.m., at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center. Girls ages 0-21 are invited to compete for the title and will be presented at the festival during the opening ceremonies.
