The Brownsville Business Association, along with local partners, will present the 6th annual Cinco Heritage Celebration Friday, May 6, 6 p.m., at the new Brownsville Amphitheater. This year’s event will feature Hispanic music, games and traditional foods. The entire family is invited to come out and enjoy this free community event.
New this year is the addition of kids games. Traditional Mexican games such as Loteria (bingo) and El Gallito (balloon stomp) will be available for the children to play and winners will receive prizes. There will also be performances of the Jarabe Tapatio (Mexican hat dance), interpretive dances, live music and the evening will end with a Baile (dance party). Students from the Haywood Middle School Spanish Club will be assisting with the activities.
Attendees may bring a lawn chair (traigan sus sillas) or take advantage of bleacher seating to enjoy an evening of music and celebration of our Hispanic community. In the event of rain, the activities will move to the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center at College Hill.
Community organizations, churches and non-profits are invited to set up booths to raise funds for their charities. There is no charge to set-up but you must pre-register by calling 731-779-9000 before May 4.
