Silver Linings Cafe Approved for Revolving Loan
The Silver Linings Cafe, a coffee shop which hopes to open soon on the east side of court square, was approved this week for a $15,000 loan through Brownsville’s revolving business loan fund . “The revolving loan fund was set up some while ago to help small business that were on the fringe that needed a loan to upstart their business or expand their business,” said Mayor Bill Rawls at Tuesdays City Board Meeting.
The Silver Linings Cafe has been under construction since December in the building that most recently housed the Somewhere in Time antique shop. For decades the building was home to one of the Baddours’ department stores.
The loan cap for the revolving loan fund is $25,000. Applicants must go through a vetting process via a committee before final approval for the city board gives their loan.
