City Hires Stormwater and Geological Expert
The City Board approved the hire of a storm water and geological expert at Tuesday’s city board meeting. Lauren Patterson will begin work in early March in a position that is required by the State of Tennessee. Patterson comes to Brownsville from the University of Memphis and a private GIS firm. Patterson will delve into the inner workings of storm water drainage in Brownsville—from the source of the water to the output.
“Anything green, that’s me,” Patterson told the City Board. “I am a big fan of conservation and clean energy.”
Vice Mayor Leon King told Patterson he hopes she will begin her work by addressing water drainage issues in his ward. “We have a serious water problem in North Brownsville,” he said. “For years we’ve been having problems with water in peoples homes and everything else down there. I wish you’d put that priority number one to see what we can do down there.”
Patterson’s position will pay $38,000 per year.
